You Are Valued Crochet Cocoon Cardigan Pattern
🧶 You Are Valued Crochet Cocoon Cardigan
This oversized cocoon cardigan is built from one simple rectangle, folded and seamed into shape, so you get a genuinely wearable, drapey silhouette without a complicated construction. A textured stitch pattern combining stacked double crochet and dc groups gives the body real visual interest, and ribbed cuffs and collar are added right onto the piece with a join-as-you-go technique, no picking up stitches later.
✨ Features
- Worked in one rectangle piece, folded and seamed for minimal finishing
- Textured stitch pattern using stacked double crochet
- Ribbed cuffs and collar worked directly onto the body, join-as-you-go
- Sized XS-M (L-2X, 3X-5X)
- Full video tutorial plus five supporting technique videos
- Body stitch diagram and schematic included
🧵 How It's Made
You'll start with a foundation row and work the body as a rectangle, repeating a four-row stitch pattern (hdc, back-loop-only sc, and a stacked dc/dc-group texture round) until the piece reaches full length. Once blocked to the schematic, you fold the rectangle and whip stitch the short edges partway to form the sleeve holes. From there, the cuff ribbing is worked directly onto each sleeve opening in join-as-you-go rows, and the collar ribbing is worked the same way around the body opening. Weave in your ends and you're done.
💖 Why You'll Love It
There's something genuinely satisfying about watching one flat rectangle fold into a full cardigan. The stacked dc texture keeps the stitching interesting without adding real difficulty, and because the ribbing is worked on rather than picked up and pieced together separately, finishing stays simple from start to finish.
📏 Sizing
Sized XS-M (L-2X, 3X-5X), with the body piece measuring 53 (58½, 64)" x 21 (25, 29)" laid flat. Cuffs measure 6" in length and the collar measures 9" (or adjust either to your preference). This kind of size range makes it an easy pick if you're making one for yourself and one for a friend of a different size.
