🧦 Sweet Nothings Crochet Socks

There's something a little indulgent about a good pair of handmade socks, and Sweet Nothings delivers that in every stitch. This crochet sock pattern uses a textured spike stitch to create a soft, pebbly fabric up the leg and across the instep, no colorwork skills required. Designed by Robyn Chachula for Marly Bird, it's a project that looks far more intricate than it actually is to make.

✨ Features

  • Textured spike stitch pattern on leg and instep
  • Sized S, M, L, XL to fit a 7–10" mid-foot circumference
  • Worked in turned rounds, no spiral drift
  • Separately-worked heel and cuff for a customizable fit
  • Optional easy color-change option on the leg
  • Two included video tutorials
  • Written pattern instructions plus stitch diagrams

🧵 How It's Made

You'll start at the leg, working the spike-stitch pattern in turned rounds. From there the foot continues right off the leg, with the sole and instep tracked separately using stitch markers as the sole tapers down through size-specific shaping. The toe closes with a few simple decreases and a seam, then you come back to work the heel on its own before seaming it in, and finish by crocheting the cuff separately and attaching it around the leg opening.

💖 Why You'll Love It

These socks feel like a genuine handmade treat, whether you're making them for cozy nights in or as a thoughtful gift. The texture does the heavy lifting so you get a stunning finished pair without a steep learning curve.

📏 Sizing

Sized S (M, L, XL) to fit a 7 (8, 9, 10)" mid-foot circumference, so it's easy to make a matching set across different foot sizes for gifting or your whole household. Sample shown in size Medium. Full finished measurements and schematic included in the pattern.

🧶 Yarn + Materials

Made with Sock Obsession Yarns Resilient Smooth Sock Yarn 4ply, a fingering/sock weight yarn (75% superwash merino wool / 25% nylon, 463 yds/423m per 100g skein). You'll need 1 (1, 2, 2) skeins depending on size. Hook: D/3 [3.0mm], or size needed to obtain gauge.
