Meet the Know Your Worth Knit Cocoon Cardigan, an oversized wrap-style cardigan knit flat as one simple rectangle and finished with a folded seam, ribbed cuffs, and a cozy button collar, perfect for the knitter who wants a beautifully textured layer without a lot of fussy shaping.

✨ Features

  • Knit flat as a single rectangle, no complicated shaping to track
  • Lace Bands stitch pattern gives it a textured, striped look
  • Ribbed collar and cuffs picked up and worked in the round for a clean finish
  • Optional leather pedestal button closure for an elevated touch
  • Sized to fit XS-M, L-2X, and 3X-5X

🧵 How It's Made

You'll start by knitting the body as one long rectangle in the Lace Bands pattern until it reaches the full length. From there, you fold it widthwise like a hot dog and whip stitch each short edge partway closed, leaving openings for the cuffs. The ribbed cuffs get picked up and knit in the round right at those openings, and the collar is picked up around the whole body opening and worked in the round in 2x2 ribbing until it reaches your desired depth.

💖 Why You'll Love It

This is a project that rewards you with a whole lot of finished garment for a pretty approachable construction. The Lace Bands pattern keeps your hands busy with just enough texture to stay interesting, and turning a single rectangle into a full cocoon cardigan feels a little like magic once you get to the folding and seaming step. It's the kind of piece you'll want to wrap up in on repeat.
