🧵 How It's Made
This hat starts sideways. You crochet the brim in short back loop rows until it's long enough to wrap the head, then switch to the larger hook and pick up single crochets evenly along its edge to begin working in the round. From there, the body grows in textured bands: X-stitches, shells, and single crochet rounds, each band closed off with a round of shallow back post single crochet. The crown shapes itself with decreases worked right into the stitch pattern. Sew the top closed, seam the brim, and finish with a pom pom or leather tag if you like.
